Divine providence refers to God’s guidance and care over all of creation. Christians believe that God is sovereign and in control of all things, and that He works all things according to His will for the ultimate good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Scripture teaches that God’s providence extends to every detail of our lives, and that nothing happens outside of His knowledge and control (Psalm 139:1-4). Christians are encouraged to trust in God’s providential care and to seek His will in all things (Proverbs 3:5-6).
