Council of Nicaea: Affirming the Deity of Christ and Establishing the Trinity.

The Council of Nicaea, held in AD 325, was convened to address the Arian controversy regarding the divinity of Jesus Christ. The council affirmed the deity of Christ as being “of the same substance” (homoousios) as God the Father, thus establishing the orthodox belief in the Trinity. This had a significant impact on Christian doctrine as it clarified essential beliefs about the nature of God and Jesus Christ, forming the foundation for future theological developments.
